Book recommendation:Peloponnesian War2016-12-23
Hey, guys!! I want to recommend you guys this book ,History of the Peloponnesian War .
Thucydides was an Athenian historian and general. He is the writer of History of the Peloponnesian War recounts the 5th century BC war between Sparta and Athens to the year 411 BC. He has a serious attitude towards the historical facts and a spirit of seeking truth from facts. As to the narrative of the events of war, as he himself said, he won`t write down the story that he accidentally heard of. And he won`t say anything even based on his own general impression. He also said that the events he had described were not what he personally saw, but he had heard from those who had personally seen them and had gone through his careful examination. We can see that he wrote the history of the process, how rigorous and objective,
I think this is the necessary moral and quality of any people who are recording the history. As our historian Qian Mu said, we will be able to show the truth of the past cultural evolution of the nation and the people, and know the necessary knowledge for those who have known the country's previous political, social, social, cultural and ideological changes.
When I was reading his book, I was attracted by his sense of relationship of cause and effects. He would provide a range a background information and, at the first time, I just felt being fed up and cannot remember so much things. But when I finished reading the things he wrote down, I can feel that every detail he had put into the book are not by accident. He linked the details just like a pen that has linked the dots into lines. I really admire his rigor and accuracy in thinking. He is like a painting artist that he can draw a heroic historical picture of the history. I sincerely recommend you guys, if you have time, to read his masterpiece History of the Peloponnesian War. I have spent 2 years to finish reading it. It takes time, but please believe me, it is worthwhile to do it.
