Words from the author:

My name is Betty Liu. I was born in Los Angeles, California, but now I live in North Carolina. I am currently a junior in high school. Growing up, I have always enjoyed cooking. Maybe it was because I loved to eat, or because my mother liked to cook. Whatever the reason, I loved spending time with my mother in the kitchen as we tried out new recipes. Nowadays, American fast-food restaurants are popping up all over the world, from McDonald’s to Pizza Hut. I wanted to show that there is much more to American food than what we see in fast-food. A Taste of America introduces some of my favorite American foods, with each article giving the origin, history, and modern day traditions of each food.

We are what we eat——

I can't agree more!! Though I'm well aware that fried chicken may be one of the unhealthiest foods, it has always been a favourite of mine. But now I learn to control myself and only eat it once a week. :)

Many great masterpieces in history are made by accidents. Sometimes in life, it's okay to be a little ramdom, and whatever suit ourselves are the best for us, which also imply us that we do not need to plan everything neatly. Life is full of surprises.
